Federal Government Signs Cease Fire Deal With Boko Haram

Indications emerged late Friday afternoon that the Nigerian federal government had struck a ceasefire deal with Boko Haram. Part of the terms of the cease fire agreement include the release of the abducted Chibok school girls.

The cease fire deal between the government and the Islamic terrorist group was confirmed by the Director General of the National  Orientation Agency, Mr. Mike Omeri. The Chief of Defence Staff, Air Vice Marshal Alex Bade also confirmed the cease fire agreement between the Nigerian government and the terrorist group.

President Goodluck Jonathan's principal secretary, Alhaji Hassan Tukur, reportedly stated that the 219 Chibok school girls who have been in captive since April would be released by the terrorists as part of the deal reached with Boko Haram.

Recently, there was a report that the Nigerian government and the International Committee of the Red Cross held discussions with Boko Haram representatives on prisoner swaps as part of the strategy to secure the release of the Chibok school girls in the wake of the increasing protests by the #BringBackOurGirls group.
