Sunday Air Mishap

An AirAsia flight, QZ8501, bound for Singapore from Surabaya, Indonesia and carrying 162 people on board went missing early Sunday morning. Indonesia air traffic control lost contact with the plane about an hour after departure, somewhere over the Java Sea,  between Belitung island and Pontianak, on Indonesia's part of Kalimantan island.

Seventeen children and crews members make up the list of passengers on board the missing airplane.

Search and rescue operations have been launched with the Indonesian army as well as Singapore and Malaysia, scouring the area around Belitung.

Supreme Court Fixes Judgment Date For  Okorocha's Appeal Nnamdi Felix / Abuja The Supreme Court has fixed 24th January, 2014 to deliver judgment in an appeal filed by Imo state Governor Rochas Okorocha, challenging the decision of an Appeal Court in Owerri, which joined former governor of the state, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, in an appeal instituted by Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, the candidate of then Action Congress of Nigeria in the governorship election held in the state in 2011. Senator Ararume is challenging the May 6th, 2011 supplementary elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission which ushered in Okorocha as the governor of state. Abuja Blast: More Death Recorded

Twenty four hours after the fatal attack masterminded by suspected Boko Haram insurgents at a Bus park at Nyanya, 16 kilometer outside Nigeria's capital city centre, the  National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has stated that one more death has been recorded from the blast which rocked the city earlier hours on Monday. While giving an update on the bomb incident to journalists in his office in Abuja, the Director-General of NEMA, Alhaji Muhammed Sani-Sidi, said agency urgently need blood for the treatment of the wounded victims and  urged Nigerians to visit the various hospitals where the victims are hospitalized to donate blood. He said the agency has received a report confirming that one of the victims has died at the Asokoro Hospital, thus bringing the number of death to 72.
